But turn a different corner and navigate a YouTube rabbit hole and you’ll find George Michael’s back catalogue has many brilliant tracks that aren’t quite as well known and plenty that were never even released. Buckle up, we’re going deep. CARELESS WHISPER — Original version One of the first songs George Michael wrote (he was 17), the classic ballad was initially recorded with iconic producer Jerry Wexler in 1983.

Wexler made records with Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield and other acts young Yog grew up loving. However something wasn’t quite right with the first attempt.

George was unhappy with his vocals and the overall sound of the song (it sounds like a demo) and would go on to produce the version that went to No. 1 globally in 1984 himself. Not only was the song totally re-recorded, he’d change the lyrics — you can hear him sing “now it’s never gonna be that way” which would later be “now who’s gonna dance with me? Please stay.” This version did come out as a b-side. Also don’t believe those post-death memes about how Andrew Ridgeley, his Wham!

Partner, got a pity co-writing credit. In the South Bank Show interview Michael discusses how he and Ridgeley wrote the song in a basement flat in Peckham in 1980. Also (trigger warning, it’s introduced by Bill Cosby) where Smokey Robinson joins in on Careless Whisper on US TV, but doesn’t really hold his own — but that was a good credibility boost for George in the American market. He also performed with Stevie Wonder singing Love’s In Need of Love Today. 1611 King James Bible With Apocrypha Pdf. Watch for pint-sized 80s TV star Emmanuel ‘Webster’ Lewis in the audience. JIVE TALKIN’ — Boogie Box High Released in 1987, Boogie Box High was a project by George Michael’s friend Andros.

For legal reasons George couldn’t be credited, but he sings this Bee Gees hit as well as the brothers Gibb. The Boogie Box High album also featured two rejected and recycled Wham! Songs included Soul Boy (the unreleased Wham! Andros and Michael (who are often mistakenly labelled cousins) started the label Aegean Records in the mid ‘90s but soon after fell out. Andros wrote a book called Rock: The Luckiest Man In Pop in 2012 talking about their friendship and hoping they could reconcile.

They never did. Michael was godfather to Andros’ son James, who is a DJ on US reality TV show Vanderpump Rules. The Symphonica orchestral tour was due to visit Australia in 2012, but sadly was cancelled after George Michael’s near-death battle with pneumonia.

One of the highlights of the tour was his tribute to Amy Winehouse. On stage introducing the song he noted “In 30 years of making music I was never actually in awe of anyone new that came on in the British scene until this lady arrived. The thought we won’t be hearing any new music from her is too sad for words.” Sadly they’ve become prophetic words now we can use them for him as well. I’M YOUR MAN — Lisa Moorish Back in 1996 Lisa Moorish was starting out in the UK as a singer. She’d worked with Johnny Douglas, George Michael’s regular collaborator. Douglas produced this remake of Wham!’s I’m Your Man and roped George in for enough vocals that it’s essentially an uncredited duet. George loved Douglas’ funked-up reworking it as the b-side of Fastlove, and mashing it up with the song on the remix.

Descargar Musica Aggro Metal. Moorish didn’t make it as a musical star, but had children with Pete Doherty and Liam Gallagher. Wham hit Sydney’s Sebel Townhouse for a press conference in 1985 Source:News Limited BATTLESTATIONS — Wham! Were almost over, and Battlestations was the ribald precursor to a lyrical theme and sound George Michael would soon refine for controversial solo hit I Want Your Sex.

“Now we spend more time in battle than we ever do in bed,” runs the chorus. Craig David must have been listening to this part “Monday was the worst day, and Friday wasn’t my day but Wednesday was the best day because on Wednesday night we made love.”. JAPANESE TV AD This one’s odd. Remember in the pre-internet era where celebrities could make big cash making TV ads only aired in Japan? Happily changed the lyrics to Bad Boys and Freedom for cassette tapes and appeared in cheesy ads.

Weirdly, George Michael sings “people think you’re bulgey baby, you’re the fish face I adore” over what used to be the lyrics to Freedom. “They asked us what fish face meant and we said it was a term of endearment,” Michael once explained. “And they showed it!”. BLUE (ARMED WITH LOVE) ONE of the first tastes of George Michael’s way with love ballads and yet tossed away as a b-side to throwaway party anthem Club Tropicana. It at least got some love during Wham! Concerts, including this footage from the history-making tour of China. Some rumours suggest this footage was actually reshot in a London studio as George didn’t like what the Chinese humidity had done to his hair.
