Ms Sql Server 2005 For Windows 8
Will Windows 8 still support Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I have a number of clients that still use it on Windows 7, that may migrate to Windows 8. I tested it on the Developers Preview Edition. It shows 2 dialogs during the SQL Server setup that states there compatibility issues that can't be resolved. I clicked install anyways, and it seems to be working. So, I'm not sure what the compatibility problem is. Can someone provide some insight as to the future support of SQL Server 2005 Express on Windows 8.
And, if there are compatibility issues what would those entail? Live Interior 3d Rapidshare. Is my only alternative to install SQL Server 2008 Express on Windows 8 when it is commercially available? Hello mmcdonald2k, Most programs that run in Windows 7 will run on Windows Developer Preview. You will have to enable the.Net Framework 3.51 under Turn Features on or off. Then you can also install the programs in Compatibility Mode. You may be able to install SQL Server 2005 Express that is designed for other versions of Windows by using the compatibility troubleshooter. You can try this troubleshooter by: Enter the Start screen Move your mouse to the bottom left of the screen to expand the Charms section Select Search Type Compatibility Click Settings in the right column Click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows Then follow the prompts and direct the troubleshooter to the installer for the program.
